Homemade cakes, loose-leaf tea and grazing cattle
It begins in the family kitchen
All of the cakes are baked by Bernadette Stanley - the farmer, mother, and grandmother behind it all.
Her recipes have been shaped by decades of feeding children, neighbours, and now guests.
She’s always favoured natural sweetness, less salt, and honest ingredients like polenta and ground almonds - not as substitutes, but as better foundations where gluten free baking is needed.
Long before gluten-free became a label, Bernadette was baking this way by instinct - avoiding the fillers and starches used in mass-produced cakes, and choosing real food for the people she loves.

What’s on the Table
A changing spread of handmade cakes, baked with care and served with loose-leaf tea or coffee. Some of the highlights:
-
Lemon Drizzle Polenta Cake (GF) – Naturally gluten-free, rich and golden with a gently grainy crumb
-
Florentines – Thin, crisp-edged, dipped in dark chocolate
-
Cinnamon Flapjack (GF) – Oaty, spiced and chewy
-
Double Chocolate Cake – Deeply chocolatey, light but not too sweet
-
Ginger Loaf – Steady warmth, spiced and soft
-
Bara Brith – A Welsh classic, made with fruit soaked in tea
-
Cheese Scones – Savoury, golden, and a bit legendary
-
Banana & Walnut Loaf – Balanced and not too dense
-
Classic Scones – Served warm with clotted cream and jam
-
Orange Polenta Cake (GF) - Soft, sticky, scented with citrus.
